Carolina Allspice is a striking, compact, spherical shrub that grows only up to 9 feet tall. Its blooms a unique, strap-like reddish brown flowers that has an aroma similar to a sweet banana and strawberry scent. It is also well-known as Common Sweetshrub or Spicebush. It has a glossy, grayish brown bark that produces a pleasant aroma when scratched. It is ideal for mass planting, hedging, screening, bordering and as a specimen. It loves full sun or partial shade, with a minimum of 4 hours of sunlight per day. It grows best with acidic, moist and well-drained soil. It has resistance with infrequent drought and flooding, as well as sandy soil. It doesn’t experience any serious disease and pest problems. It only needs to be watered during dry weather. Its urn-like fruits turn brown and ripe in September until October.
